Biblical Insight:
In the Bible, power and responsibility go hand in hand. Israel was chosen to be God’s special people. They were to be infused with God’s power, but the second part of that deal was their responsibility to be a light to other nations (Exodus 19:6). In his Gospel John tells us Jesus knew he had been given all authority and because of that understanding he knelt down to wash his dimples feet (John 13:3-5). Knowing our rights invites us to the responsibility of serving.
