Biblical Insight:
Israel was God’s chosen nation, His people. But when God came to earth, He came so that he could extend open arms to every tribe, nation, and tongue. Likewise in Acts 10, the Sprit called Peter to welcome the Gentiles into his church of Jewish Jesus followers. This would cause him to expand his friend group. In the Old Testament God is always calling His people to welcome in the stranger and the foreigner. God is creating a family where everyone belongs.
