The Gospel of John records that “Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under His power, and that He had come from God and was returning to God; so He …” What are we expecting next? We’d imagine that His next action would be something powerful, like maybe He’ll do the transfiguration again or maybe He’ll perform His greatest miracle yet. No, the next thing Jesus does is wash the disciples feet (John 13:3-5). At the moment where Jesus is fully aware of His powers, He is moved to serve.
