Biblical Insight:
“The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Romans 8:16). It is by hearing the voice of God that we understand our identity as God’s beloved children. It works the same with the voice of the enemy. Eve was told that she was unlike God by the Serpent, despite the fact that the was made in God’s image a chapter earlier (Genesis 1:26-27, 3:5) This caused her to be jealous of God and His knowledge. One voice creates beautiful identity in us; the other voice tricks us to become people who we are not.
