Biblical Insight:
In 1 Corinthians 10:12 Paul gives an aside where he touches on comparison. “But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.” Comparison kills. When we compare ourselves we show we don’t understand what God has done in us and for us. Gratefulness for what God has done in us and for us shifts our focus from others to God’s love and we can’t help but share it. This helps us look for others around us to bless instead of looking for others around us to prove we are better than they are.
