Boris has a bad feeling about this ... In this episode Dave shows Boris how to put words to feelings. The episode helps children separate their identity from their emotions and thoughts. Just because Boris has a bad thought don't make him a bad person, or robot. Understanding one's emotions can help one take control over situations that may have originally felt overpowering.
Materials Required: pencil and paper
Age Group: Early Elementary/KS1
This lesson cross references the SEL Core Competency: 'Self-Awareness.' It helps children identify their emotions and make the link between their thought life and the emotions that ensue. This episode builds an attitude of self-compassion and resilience in children, by giving them the tools to differentiate between having a bad thought and being a bad person. Stephanie helps students take agency over their thought life. This contributes to students growing in self-efficacy.
This lesson cross-references with M 1. from the ASCA Mindset and Behavior Standards.
